Food and Accommodation

Everyone is well known about the food and accommodation is not free at higher altitudes. Tea Houses and Lodges in the Everest region are basic. Yet, you are provided healthy and hygienic food and drinks every day.

The cost of Food and Accommodation depends upon the altitudes. At lower altitudes, food and accommodation cost less but at a higher elevation, it is difficult for the supply of food. People themselves, donkeys and the yaks are the means of transportation for supplying food. Well, on average a single meal costs you $8-$10 Also, price depends upon the variety which you’ve ordered.

In the case of accommodation, you will be staying in the Tea House. This route is known as the teahouse trek route. The facilities that you get will depend upon the altitude variation. In the lower region, you can find luxury and basic accommodation. But as the altitude increases accommodation will be basic. Staying in a teahouse will cost nearly $6-$10 per person. Getting a single room at a higher altitude is rare. You will be provided with rooms in twin sharing basics.

You are provided two single comfortable beds with a pillow and a warm blanket. It is better to carry your sleeping bag with you to make yourself warmer. You will not provide an extra blanket during peak season. There is less chance of getting the attached bathroom at a higher altitude. Also, you will not find toilet paper so better to carry it yourself.


Guide and Porter

While trekking to Everest Base Camp Cho La Pass Gokyo, taking a guide and porter with you is the best choice. This trek is difficult so that better hire a guide and porter. Approximately, you need to hike 5-6 hours per day while the trails are steep and slopy which is dangerous.

A guide is a person who leads you to your destination providing you with a lot of entertainment and helps you to share your burden while you’re in trekking. A guide will always take care of you, making sure that you’re safe. He/She will always be there for you in case of any difficulties or emergencies. A well-experienced, government license guide will charge $30 per day.
Similarly, a porter is someone who carries all your luggage safe and sound in trekking. You can be free and should not worry about your luggage. You can let him carry freely. An experienced porter will also charge $20 per day.
Be sure about the rules for guide and porter. Suppose you got ill in the middle of the trek and could not complete it for any reason. In that case, you have to pay the full amount that owes for the whole trek. But if the guide gets ill then you should only pay up to that pay or you can exchange the guide.


Permit required for Gokyo Lake Trek

If you are planning to do the Gokyo Lake Trek in Nepal, you will need to obtain certain permits before you can start your journey. Here are the permits that you will need:
TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) Card: All trekkers must obtain a TIMS card, which is a mandatory permit for trekking in Nepal. The TIMS card can be obtained from the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu or from the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN).

Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit: The Gokyo Lake Trek falls within the Sagarmatha National Park, and as such, you will need to obtain a Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit. This permit can be obtained from the Nepal Tourism Board or from the Sagarmatha National Park Office in Monjo.

Gaurishankar Conservation Area Permit (if taking an alternate route): If you plan to take an alternate route from Namche Bazaar to Thame or Renjo La Pass, you will also need to obtain a Gaurishankar Conservation Area Permit. This permit can be obtained from the Nepal Tourism Board or from the Gaurishankar Conservation Area Project Office in Charikot.

Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit

While trekking in the Everest region, you have to pass through Sagarmatha National Park whichever route you follow. For that, having Sagarmatha National Park Permit is necessary whenever you explore this region. Permits are checked at every checkpoint. The cost of Sagarmatha National Park permit is $30 per person including 13% VAT.

Permits are very necessary documents for exploring any region of Nepal. It is checked in at every checkpoint throughout the trekking trails. This is for your safety. If you are found trekking in this region without permits then you will be given punishment according to the law and should pay an extra charge. Necessary Permits are available in:
Nepal Tourism Board, Kathmandu (Both permits are available)
Pasang Lambhu Municipality, Lukla (Local Area Permit)
Monjo Village (National Park Permit)

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu 1400 m / 4593 ft

As you land at Kathmandu airport, we will escort you from the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 2 : Kathmandu to Lukla (Flight) to Phakding 2651 m / 8697 ft 3 - 4 hr

On this day, you gonna fly from Kathmandu to Lukla on a domestic plane. The morning flight will be best, you can witness stunning views of the wonderful Himalayas from the plane window.

After reaching the Lukla, you will be trekking towards Phakding. Your destination for the night will be Phakding.


Day 3 : Trek From Phakding to Namche Bazaar 3438 m / 11279 ft 5 - 6 hr

Your journey starts from Phakding, you will trek a trail through Everest towards Namche Bazar. Namche is known as the popular name in the Everest region. The route will be long and tiring, yet rewarding. You will witness small villages like Monjo and Jhorsale to Namche. You will spend the night in Namche tower.


Day 4 : Acclimatization day 3700 m / 12139 ft 5 hr

Acclimatization day is the day when you will trek to higher altitudes. Most of the trekkers hike to the famous hotel called Hotel Everest View. There, you can enjoy your breakfast with stunning views of Everest and some other Himalayas.

Day 5 : Trek Namche Bazaar to Dole 3680 m / 12073 ft 5 - 6 hr

The trek starts from Namche Bazaar to Dole with full energy and excitement. The trail will be easy up to Mong La pass. Through that checkpoint, the trail gets separates to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lake. The trail will not be easy as before, it will be rugged and dusty. You will witness amazing views of the Himalayas which will keep you energizing. Your shelter will be at the teahouse in Dole.

Day 6 : Trek From Dole to Machhermo 4470 m / 14665 ft 4 hr

The trek starts from the Gokyo lake trekking trail to MAcchermo. The trail will not be easy and the route is an uphill trail. You need to be hydrated so drink plenty of water. When you reach above 4500 meters the air becomes thin so, you need to be conscious about your health. Overnight at a lodge in Macchermo.


Day 7 : Trek From Machhermo to Gokyo 4800 m / 15748 ft 4 hr

You will start trekking from Gokyo valley. The trail will be exiting with a stunning view of mountains and hills. You will witness beautiful Himalayan Vistas and amazing local people. Gokyo village is a lovely and warm welcoming village. There are few lodges and teahouse and you will be staying a night over there.


Day 8 : Morning trip to Gokyo Ri 5,357 m / 17575 ft 4 hr

Gokyo Ri is a peak known as the famous viewpoint in Gokyo Valley trek. Early sunrise, you will be trekking to Gokyo Ri. Through the peak, you will see an amazing sunrise view over the great snowy peaks. And also witness the blue Gokyo lakes and the Gokyo village as well. You will stay in the teahouse or lodge of Gokyo village.


Day 9 : Trek down Gokyo to Dole 4110 m / 13484 ft 6 - 7 hr

After spending time over Gokyo village, you will pack your bags and get ready to trek back to Dole. Trekking back will be easy than before and under the beautiful nature, it gives you enjoyment. Overnight in Dole.

Day 10 : Trek From Dole to Namche Bazaar 3438 m / 11279 ft 5 - 6hr

Dole to Namche Bazaar will be a longer trail. To keep up you need to during water to be hydrated. You will witness the incredible Himalayan vistas around while you trek back. At Namche Bazaar, you don’t feel to stay in the hotel room because of the beauty of the town(3,450 meters). So, enjoy the town and explore the market. You will be staying the night in the hotel of Namche Bazaar.


Day 11 : Trek From Namche Bazaar to Lukla 2860 m / 9383 ft 7 - 8 hr

As you know the trail is too long to reach Lukla. You need to start trekking early so it will be much easier in trails. During your trek, the trail will be not so crowded and porters will not be waiting for you on the trail. You can have your launch at any place you want while trekking back.

After trekking the whole day, Lukla will be a pleasant place to rest. Lukla may be a small town but, you will still find amazing hotels, cafes and shops to get the necessary goods.


Day 12 : Lukla to Kathmandu 1380 m / 4527 ft 40 min

It is the final day in Everest. If the weather is good, you will catch your flight early morning and get back to Kathmandu. Some times with bad weather your flight may be delayed as well. After you landed at Kathmandu, we will escort you to the hotel in a private vehicle.


Day 13 : Departure

Today is the last day of the trek in Nepal. You will have breakfast early morning and we will help you to drive to the airport for departure.
